Ba-Phalaborwa - The murder case against a former member of the now-defunct Civil Co-operation Bureau and six foreign mercenaries has been withdrawn at the Lulekani magistrate's court in Limpopo, SABC radio news reported on Tuesday.
The acting senior Public Prosecutor in the area, Mzamani Twala, said the case was withdrawn pending further investigation.
The group faces seven counts of murder and 70 of attempted murder in connection with a 1986 incident during which members of the former SA Defence Force hurled three grenades at a crowd which had gathered at a house at Lulekani in Ba-Phalaborwa.
The group had gathered to discuss a consumer boycott. They were arrested last year.
The former CCB member - Hans Louw - is presently serving a 26-year prison sentence on a charge of murder.
