Johannesburg - A motorist was killed when his car crashed into a tree and then into two other cars in Chatsworth on Friday, Durban paramedics said.
"A Toyota, with Gauteng registration plates, was travelling in the south bound lane on Higginson highway in Chatsworth. It lost control, crashed into a tree before it landed on top of another car travelling in the opposite lane," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.
It then crashed into a second car, also travelling in the north bound lane.
The driver of the Toyota died on the scene despite attempts by paramedics to resuscitate him.
The occupants of the two other cars were rushed to the R Khan hospital in Chatsworth in a critical condition.
