Shop employee used as shield

East London - Armed robbers used an East London shop employee as a shield when they entered a Commissioner Street shop they robbed of R600, police reported on Sunday.

Superintendent Eddie Watson said Nomawele Mhlawuli (39) was used as a shield on Saturday when the three gunmen entered the store and demanded money. They were unable to open the shop's safe.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Captain Johan Koedyk on 082 779 7157.
