Pretoria - De Wet Kritzinger who attacked a busload of black commuters in 2000, was convicted on Wednesday on three charges of murder and four of attempted murder.
De Wet said to the court earlier "I believed that by shooting dead innocent black people on a bus I would obey my promise to God," in a statement read by his counsel, Harry Prinsloo.
he said the shootings were not racist and that he did not hate other nations.
Pretoria High Court Judge Deon Basson said Kritzinger knew it was wrong to shoot innocent people.
Basson said the wrongfulness was measured in terms of legal criteria and not by the political or religious convictions of the person who committed the crime.
