Evander - A lecturer at a further education and training (FET) college has walked free on rape charges.
Evander Magistrate's Court acquitted the 32-year-old lecturer from the Gert Sibande FET College on Wednesday because of lack of evidence, said Evander police spokesperson Constable Sibusiso Mbuli.
The lecturer was arrested on May 29 in connection with raping a 21-year-old part-time student.
He was accused of luring her to his home and raping her.
College spokesperson Jabu Mhlabane said the lecturer was on suspension and she couldn't comment until the college reopened after the holidays.
"We will then take the matter further," she said.
