Johannesburg - The SA Human Rights Commission will embark on a fact-finding mission in Atteridgeville in Pretoria where two foreign nationals were killed in an apparent xenophobic attack, it said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Vincent Moaga said the commission would visit the Brazzaville informal settlement on Wednesday at 10:00.
Two Zimbabwean nationals were killed when a mob burnt their shacks in two separate incidents at midnight on Monday.
Constable Patricia Simelane said a large crowd allegedly went to a man's shack, started beating him up and set his shack alight while he lay unconscious inside.
Simelane said the man was found dead and his brother managed to escape.
A few meters away, another person was found burnt beyond recognition in his shack. Three men were arrested.
The commission strongly condemned the attack and many similar others around the country where human rights violations of foreign nationals occurred.
On Friday, the Department of Home Affairs also condemned the attacks on foreign nationals and labelled such attacks as inappropriate.
The department said it was in consultation with relevant stakeholders to find a solution to the attacks.
