Johannesburg - A 19-year-old Kagiso man was found guilty by Judge Sisi Khampepe in the High Court on Monday of murdering his mother and sister.
Jerry Modibedi and co-accused William Mohulatsi, 20, and Trevor Khubeka, 18, were also found guilty of stealing Elizabeth Modibedi's BMW car and kidnapping.
Armed with knives, they went to Modibedi's house in Kagiso in January 2004 where they assaulted his mother, Elizabeth Modibedi, stabbing her repeatedly.
They then tied her and his 11-year-old sister, Munal, up and forced them into the family's BMW.
Modibedi drove the car to a deserted field in Kagiso. Here he stabbed his mother and sister to death.
When giving evidence in court, Modibedi said they had been "a pain in the ass".
After the murder, the three men went to a party in Soweto in Mrs Modibedi's car.
Modibedi and the other two men were arrested the next day.
Modibedi told the court he had not been responsible for his actions because he had smoked Mandrax and drank a lot of alcohol.
He said he had blacked out and did not remember what happened.
Khampepe dismissed this, saying his recollection of the events was unusually accurate.
Mohulatsi and Khubeka also said Modibedi was fully aware of his actions.
The three men will be sentenced soon.
