Pretoria - A director of the independent complaints directorate has been charged with fraud and forgery after allegedly falsifying his qualifications.
Matshobane Michael Kekana appeared in Pretoria regional court on Tuesday.
According to the charge sheet, he apparently stated in June 1997 that he had an LL B degree. This apparently untrue claim was stated in his curriculum vitae.
It is claimed he committed fraud once again in November 1997 when he said he had an LL M degree.
According to the charge sheet this was so he would be eligible for a bigger salary - which he was paid.
The State claims that in February 1998, Kekana said he had wide-ranging research experience and therefore qualified for the chief director post.
The directorate appointed Kekana to the post on these grounds.
The case was postponed when witnesses failed to arrive for the hearing. The case will continue next year.
