Man takes life with bandsaw

Durban - A 23-year-old man who worked at a butchery in Alice Street, Durban, committed suicide on Monday by putting his head through a bandsaw - a machine usually used for cutting up carcasses.
The cut to the neck that Mzuvukile Baleni suffered was deep enough to kill him, but did not sever his head from his body, Inspector Michael Read of the Durban police said.
The incident follows a similar event in May this year, in which a 31-year-old man sawed his head off in full view of staff and customers at a supermarket in Richards Bay.
Read said the staff at the Durban butchery were predictably traumatised on Monday, and that it was possible some had been sent home from work for the day.
No foul play is suspected.
