Johannesburg - One man was arrested after a gang of fourteen robbed a Coca-Cola factory in Hercules, Pretoria, police said on Thursday.
Constable Patricia Simelane said a gang robbed the factory of R30 000 as well as an undisclosed amount from one of the safes.
"The gang entered the 24-hour factory. They opened one safe and took an undisclosed amount of money," she said.
Simelane said the men also took R30 000 from a money bag that had just arrived on the premises.
Security company ADT alerted police of the break-in.
"When the police met the suspects still at the factory, shooting broke out and the police vehicle and ADT vehicles were damaged. Some of the police sustained minor injuries," she said.
Police arrested one man after a tip-off at Bella-Ombre near Mamelodi in Pretoria. He was found in possession of an AK47 rifle, a shotgun and R17 000.
Police were searching for his accomplices, Simelane said.
