Johannesburg - Two men, aged 24 and 25, were arrested for robbing the owner of a Wimpy restaurant at Riverside Boulevard Mall in Vanderbijlpark on Monday, Gauteng police said.
Inspector Trudie Wilken said three armed men overpowered the 54-year-old male owner and a female staff member on their way to the bank from the restaurant at around 09:00 on Monday.
Several shots were fired and the owner was shot in his left calf. No one else was injured during the shooting.
The men then fled with a huge amount of cash in a blue Nissan Sentra.
The owner was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police spotted the vehicle around 15:15 on Monday at a shopping complex in Sebokeng and arrested two of the men.
The third man was still being sought by police.
A case of armed robbery and attempted murder was being investigated, Wilken said.
