Johannesburg - Armed robbers tried to pull an ATM from its housing at a Thembisa, East Rand, petrol station early on Thursday morning, but failed, police reported.
Captain Sophie Mayisela said three armed men in a Nissan bakkie arrived at the petrol station at 03:40 and ordered the employees to lie on the floor. They then attached ropes to the ATM and tried to drag it off its housing, using the bakkie.
When this failed, they robbed the petrol station of a closed-circuit television camera, a TV set, a computer and a cellphone.
Mayisela said there were no shots, no one was injured and police had made no arrests.
