11 die in lorry-taxi smash

Piet Retief - Eleven people were killed when a lorry and a minibus taxi collided on the N2 between Pongola in KwaZulu-Natal and Piet Retief in Mpumalanga, SABC radio news reported on Monday.
The lorry driver, who was travelling towards Pongola had tried to avoid a man riding a horse at Assagay bridge on Sunday night.
It collided with the taxi and the passengers were flung out.
Earlier it was reported that 10 people were killed and that the lorry driver, the taxi driver and one woman passenger survived.
Captain Sibongile Nkosi said police recovered another body on Monday from the wreckage on the N2 near Piet Retief in Mpumalanga
The woman was taken to Piet Retief Hospital for treatment and the lorry driver had minor injuries.
SABC radio news reported the accident happened at the same spot where about 10 overseas tourists were killed when their bus overturned.
