Puppy gets 'people treatment'

Johannesburg - Paramedics had to administer "people treatment" to a 7-month-old boerboel puppy which impaled a leg on a palisade fence in Vereeniging on Saturday morning, said ER24.
Spokesperson Riana Beech said paramedics arrived at a house in Three
Rivers at 08:00 to find the dog, named Tessa, "moaning".
The animal's right, front leg was impaled on the six foot palisade
fence around the property.
They sedated the puppy and gave it something for the pain before
lifting it off the fence and taking it to the Vereeniging Veterinary
Clinic. It would probably need stitches, said Beech.
She said the home owner saw a bakkie pull up outside the house and
heard the bell ring. However, the vehicle had driven off by the time
the door was answered.
It was thought the dog "probably got a little bit excited, tried to
get over the fence and got stuck".
Paramedics treated the animal "as a patient", said Beech.
