Cape Town - The murderer of little Steven Siebert, 6, apparently has eight personalities altogether - one of them a woman.
Paedophile Theunis Olivier, 55, testified to this effect in the Cape High Court on Thursday.
According to Olivier his other personalities are:
Theo - a powerful personality who is half good, half evil
Brian Shannon - a Christian who preaches the word of God
Ray Sinclair - a tiler who smokes and drinks
Chris Oliver - a female personality who insisted as a child that Olivier's room and nightclothes should be pink
Sharon - a woman who was dominant from 1965 to 1973
There are also Ruuss and Tory. The latter is apparently male.
Olivier claimed on Thursday that each personality had a different IQ and even body temperature.
Olivier alleged that the personalities had emerged years ago under hypnotherapy treatment in London and Zimbabwe.
Convicted of sodomy, murder
He was convicted earlier this week of abducting, sodomising and murdering Steven Siebert on December 23 2005.
Olivier, who speaks a slow, somewhat outdated English, blames his deeds on the Theo personality.
He went so far as to say that he should not have signed his statement in the singular.
He should have signed it "Theo" or "us" in the plural.
Olivier shed light on Steven's last hour on Thursday.
He said: "Steven was standing on a small white wall next to the tree.
"He tried to jump up so he could grab hold of the branch.
"I called out to him to watch out because he could hurt himself."
After the incident Olivier took the boy to a nearby house.
He tied a rubber band around his penis so he could get an erection.
Then he sodomised the boy.
The rubber band could be linked to an earlier botched attempt to castrate himself.
Olivier testified on Thursday that he'd tried to cut off his penis and testicles years ago, but that he had failed.
The proceedings will continue in the High Court on Monday.
