Pretoria - The Pretoria police's housebreaking task team arrested four suspects and recovered stolen goods worth about R200 000 in an overnight operation, police reported on Tuesday.
The team also recovered three vehicles worth about R140 000, believed to have been used in crimes, said Pretoria police spokesperson Inspector Anton Breedt.
The four suspects, aged between 18 and 28, were arrested during raids on two houses in Mamelodi West.
Goods recovered at these houses included four big-screen television sets, music systems, a refrigerator, toolbox, a lounge suite, binoculars, mountain bikes, paintings, a camera, a microwave oven, beer, a computer and a watch.
"The three vehicles had their engine and chassis numbers tampered with, raising suspicion that the suspects might be part of one of the syndicate groups committing armed robberies and burglaries," Breedt said.
Those arrested were being held on charges of possessing suspected stolen goods. More charges may be added later.
