Johannesburg - A labourer on a Hoopstad farm has been arrested for the murder of the farm owner, said northern Free State police on Sunday.
Spokesperson Kediinametse Kitime said police found Ronnie van
Vuuren shot in the head after they had traced him as the owner of a
white Isuzu bakkie that had been abandoned at a Schweizer Reneke
tavern after a Saturday evening shooting.
The driver of the bakkie "shot the tavern owner and he also shot
at the police officer who was trying to arrest him".
The man fled on foot and was later arrested in Bloemhof.
"The police traced the owner of the bakkie and they went to
Middelwater farm, Hoopstad," said Kitime.
"On arrival at the farm, the police found the body of Ronnie
Van Vuuren. He had been shot in the head.
"It is claimed the 28-year-old man was working as a
gardener at the farm and was also working at the house."
