Police hunt escaped prisoner

Cape Town - Mitchell's Plain police on Monday requested the Cape Town public to assist in the recapture a car theft suspect who escaped from police custody.
Melvin Claasen, 25, escaped from the Mitchell's Plain police station during an identity parade on Sunday.
Claasen, who is also wanted for murder, was dressed in a blue t-shirt, black tracksuit pants and white Nike takkies at the time of his escape.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Claasen should contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Trevor Nash, on 021-370-1706.
