You're too noisy, says rapist

2008-08-13 21:13

Cape Town - The Cape High Court heard on Wednesday how alleged serial rapist Tsediso Letsoenya raped two women he had found walking with a teenage girl at night in a dark street.

The three, all cousins, were allegedly forced at gunpoint to undress, then led to a ditch where they had to kneel with their hands on the ground, one of the three women, aged 24, told the court.

A leading seaman in the Navy before his arrest, Letsoenya, faces 104 charges, including 39 of rape and 33 of sexual assault, before Judge Abe Motale and assessors.

The woman told the court they were on their way home around 20: 30 on a Friday in February 2004, after visiting their grandmother in Phillipi on the Cape Flats.

Close to police station

She told the court how "this man", clad in a pair of shorts, a T-shirt and sandals came running towards them from bushes alongside the road.

As Letsoenya reached them, he produced a gun and ordered them to undress, she said. The incident happened close to the Metro Police premises, where the lights were on, she said.

As they knelt in the ditch Letsoenya allegedly first raped her adult cousin while the youngest of the three, aged 13, wept.

'Too noisy'

As Letsoenya raped the older cousin, he had his gun pointed at the weeping teenager and warned her she was making too much noise, she said.

When Letsoenya had finished with the first woman he allegedly proceeded to rape the 24-year-old.

She said Letsoenya merely unzipped his shorts and did not undress.

She told the court: "As he raped me... I begged him not to touch my teenage cousin."

The case continues.

Capetonian says... I don't even see SAA Airlin MENTIONED in the article. What the hell are you on about Simon? Most of the delays were due to there not being enough busses and the drivers not knowing where to go. Add to that the aeroplane that had to return to CPT, and it was simply a bad day. Today everything went wonderfully. It was just a bad day. Read the article...
