Nelspruit - Mpumalanga is experiencing its smoothest grade 12 exams in recent years, the education department reported on Monday.
Provincial education spokesperson Jasper Zwane said there had been "very minor" administrative problems, which had no adverse effects on the exams, as opposed to problems in previous years.
"In previous years there were problems with late deliveries of papers and criminal incidents," he explained.
Zwane said 2 800 markers, nine marking centre managers and 344 examination assistants had already been appointed to mark papers between December 1 and December 8.
The final results will be released on December 30, he said.
He said outstanding national subjects that still had to be written were history, maths and biology paper two.
The department registered 57 926 candidates for the matric exams this year.
Of these, 40 802 are full time candidates.
