Singapore - The owner of five Rottweilers that attacked and injured a smaller dog was charged in a Singapore court with letting her canines out unmuzzled and unleashed, news reports said on Wednesday.
Satpal Kaur, a 51-year-old widow, could be fined up to 50 000 Singapore dollars when the case resumes in a Singapore court in a month.
Businessman David Ow, whose Jack Russell terrier was attacked, is also suing Kaur for medical compensation and trauma, The Straits Times said.
The court brought 10 counts on Tuesday against Kaur. She faces fines of 5 000 Singapore dollars for each dog left without a muzzle and another 5 000 Singapore dollars for each without a leash.
The Rottweilers bounded out of Kaur's home on November 26 and set upon Ow and his dog, Mambo. Ow had scrapes on his hands and knees from fending off the Rottweilers, and Mambo had eight puncture wounds.
Two of Kaur's dogs have been boarded at a pet hotel following an order from the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) allowing her to keep only three dogs. She is offering the two for adoption.
"It is like giving away two of your grandchildren," one of Kaur's three sons was quoted as saying.
