Johannesburg - The body of a murdered Heidelberg man was discovered by his domestic worker on Saturday
East Rand police spokesperson Superintendent Andy Pieke said on Monday the body of Aubrey Porkeus, 55, was discovered on a sofa by his domestic worker at about 22:00.
He had apparently been hit over the head with a heavy object.
Pieke said police established that the intruders had gained entry into the victim's home by forcing a door open with a crowbar.
He said guards from a security company patrolling the area spotted two suspects fleeing and later found a television set and a hi-fi outside on the lawn of the victim's home.
It was not yet established if other household items were stolen.
