Mdantsane - Eastern Cape police are looking for a woman suspected to be in Transkei, who allegedly left her five children stranded in Malawi, a spokesperson said on Saturday.
Captain Mtati Tana said the case was reported by a Malawian national, Overton Imed, who lives in Mdantsane.
"The complainant said he received a call from his ex-girlfriend, Amina Zondi, who called the man from Malawi, saying that their mother left them weeks ago to visit relatives in South Africa and has not come back since," said Tana.
The only clue police had was that the woman, known as Patuna, was married to Ibrahim Zondi who passed away in 2000.
"The man could not speak English or isiXhosa properly, and this made it difficult for the police to get sufficient information from him," said Tana.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Patuna is urged to contact the East London Police on 043-722-9706 or the Imed on 073-879-0207.
