Policeman robbed of his gun

Johannesburg - Four men robbed a police officer of his gun before fleeing following a failed robbery of a cash loan office in Springs on Monday, Gauteng police said.
Captain Johannes Ramphora said the men entered a building which houses doctors, dentists and a cash loan office with the intention to rob the cash loan office at 08:00 on Monday.
A police officer was on duty at the scene when the four men entered the building.
The men held him up and assaulted him before taking his firearm.
The men then exited the building and hijacked a car in the parking lot before fleeing in it.
It was suspected that the men's plan had been disrupted by the presence of the officer and that they aborted their plan to rob the cash loan office.
Only the officer's firearm and the vehicle were taken.
A case of armed robbery and hijacking was being investigated. No arrests had been made, said Ramphora.
