Daurban - The four men who were involved in the murder of Prince Mazwi Zulu received heavy jail sentences when they were sentenced on Monday by a Circuit Court judge, sitting at Mtubatuba on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast.
Captain Vish Naidoo said Bongi Nene was convicted and sentenced to 20 years' for armed robbery and possession of unlicenced firearms. A further three years' was added to his sentence.
Mlungisi Zulu was sentenced to life in prison for murder and 20 years' for armed robbery.
He received a further 20 years' on two counts of attempted murder, 15 years' for possession of unlicenced firearms and another two years' for unlawful possession of ammunition.
Bhekisisa Kunene and Lucky Thwala were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 20 years' for armed robbery and 10 years' for two counts of attempted murder.
Zulu, son of KwaZulu-Natal welfare MEC Prince Gideon Zulu, was killed early this year when his car was ambushed near Ulundi. His mother and driver were wounded in the attack.
