Nelspruit - A woman's two daughters have both been raped by different lovers in her life.
A man has been charged with raping the woman's 15-year-old daughter at her house in Elandshoek near Nelspruit in the early hours of Friday morning while her mother was staying with another man.
The younger daughter, who is 11 years old, was also raped last month by another man with whom her mother had been having an affair.
"Social workers have been asked to investigate the children's living conditions and determine whether their mother should be charged with neglect," said Constable Ngwako Kgofelo on Monday.
The man accused of raping the older girl was not asked to plead when he appeared in the Nelspruit magistrate's court on Monday and was remanded in custody until October 6 for further investigation.
He was arrested on Saturday after the girl reported that the suspect had raped her all night, fallen asleep and then woken up to go to work, said Kgofelo.
"Her mother had left her two daughters alone at home for two weeks and was staying with another man after accusing her boyfriend of being abusive," said Kgofelo.
She said the teenager believed the man raped her to take revenge because she had thrown boiling water on him last month when he beat her mother.
The suspect apparently beat the mother and her two daughters regularly.
The man charged with raping the younger girl will also appear in court on October 6.
