Johannesburg - A man was shot and another assaulted when gunmen attacked commuters at a taxi rank in downtown Johannesburg on Friday morning, said Netcare 911.
Spokesperson Nick Dollman said paramedics treated a man who was wounded in his hand when the gunmen fired several shots during the attack.
They also treated a man who had been beaten up by the attackers, who struck at 10:25 at a taxi rank not far from the intersection of Wemmer Jubilee road and Eloff street in Marshalltown.
"Fortunately they were both in a stable condition and were transported by ambulance to a private hospital for further assessment and treatment," said Dollman.
Police were not immediately able to confirm the incident.
