Johannesburg - A mentally disabled child was reported missing on Friday, more than seven hours after her parents dropped her off at a Pretoria school, police said.
Stephanie Grenfell usually commutes to a school in Eastlynne with her friend from Roodeplaat Dam, captain Piletji Sebola said.
On Friday, she was dropped off at the school at 06:30. But when her parents went to fetch her at 14:00, "to their surprise, they only found Stephanie's friend".
Stephanie, aged 12, was nowhere to be seen, Sebola said.
"Her parents then reported her missing at the Kameeldrift police station," he said.
She was wearing a pink skirt with red flowers, a black half
T-shirt and white sandals.
She has blonde hair in a bob, and a spot on the cheek.
"The police are searching for her.
"They also call on members of the public to report to the nearest police station if they see her," Sebola said.
