UFS victims 'have legal rights'

Pretoria - The Law Society of SA on Friday offered to assist on a pro bono basis the workers who were humiliated in a racist video by four students of the University of the Free State.
"The LSSA is of the view that charges must be brought against the perpetrators. The rights of the victims should also be addressed as they may have civil recourse against their perpetrators," it said.
Attorneys in the Free State would gladly assist the victims in this matter to assert their rights, the Law Society said.
It welcomed the university's commitment to deal with the matter and it added its voice to those calling on the Human Rights Commission (HRC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
