Johannesburg - A Lusikisiki woman was murdered on her way home from a function, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Captain Mduduzi Godlwana said the woman was returning from an Umngquzo (traditional coming of age function for girls) on Saturday when her alleged attacker stabbed her to death.
"They were both drunk and the deceased apparently tried to block the path of the suspect on her way home," Godlwana said.
He said a fight ensued and the man took out a knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest, shoulder and eye.
Godlwana said the man was in custody and would appear in Lusikisiki Magistrate's Court on Monday.
