Waterkloof 4 tensions boil over

Cape Town - A recent fist fight following hurtful SMSs between two members of the Waterkloof Four indicate that the unity of the group is something of the past, and has been replaced by serious tension.

Many people reiterated that the four were still firm friends after Christoff Becker appointed his own legal team last month and the other three continued their application in the Supreme Court of Appeal with their old legal team.

Beeld is able to confirm that Becker and his former friend Reinach Tiedt got into a fist fight "just recently, in the last month".

Frikkie du Preez was also present at the time.

The bonds of friendship between Becker on the one side and Tiedt and Du Preez on the other, have been broken.

'White trash'

SMSs that Becker allegedly sent to Tiedt led to the fist fight. These were "terribly insulting", including a reference to the Tiedts as "white trash".

Tiedt was so upset that he went to confront Becker about it. Du Preez accompanied him. The confrontation between Tiedt and Becker was so intense that they came to blows.

Du Preez's father Willie said on Thursday evening that his son had been present at the time of the brawl. "He was just involved in that he tried to stop Reinach and Christoff."

Christoff Tiedt, Reinach's father, did not wish to comment on Thursday.

Becker said via his legal representative Harry Pretorius that he also did not wish to comment at this stage.

Tiedt and Du Preez's lawyer Oeloff de Meyer said that he "was not informed of the SMSs and fist fight".
