Vereeniging - A pupil from a Lenasia primary school was killed and 15 others were injured on Monday when the school's minibus overturned on the Golden Highway south of Johannesburg, a police spokesperson said.
Assistant Commissioner Faan Steyn said Ofa Mncube, 10, was killed instantly. She was a pupil of the South View Primary School in Lenasia South.
The driver of the bus apparently lost control of the vehicle near Orange Farm on the Golden Highway.
The bus left the road and overturned.
Nine other children were seriously injured and six were slightly injured, Steyn said. They were all taken to the Chris Hani/Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
