Peaceful elections for KZN?

Cape Town - The government did not anticipate violence of the scale of the pre-1994 election period in KwaZulu-Natal in the
run up to a national election to be held in the middle of next year, says Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula.
At a briefing at parliament, the minister was asked if the recent apparent rise in violence in that province was politically motivated. He reponded that the violence had to be seen in the context of taxi wars and faction fighting
taking place in the province.
While he did not provide figures, he said the government did not foresee that it would face "the kind of full scale violence as in the past".
However, he said that this did not mean that there would not be "some bubbles" of violence. - I-Net Bridge.
