Cape Town - The choice in next Wednesday's local government elections is almost as simple as switching on a light used to be - according to Democratic Alliance leader Tony Leon.
Speaking at his party's final election rally in Goodwood, Cape Town, on Saturday, Leon said those who believe light should shine, taxes run and refuse be removed, should vote for the DA.
Leon referred to the power cuts which have plagued Cape Town for the past two weeks, saying: "In Zimbabwe it took 11 years for there to be mass power outages and electricity failures - in South Africa we have managed the same in just 12 years."
DA mayoral candidate Helen Zille said the election in the metro would be the closest in the history of the city.
Zille said: "There is no way to predict the result. It could come down to a single vote in a single ward."
