Pietermaritzburg - African National Congress president Jacob Zuma's lawyer said he always knew they would win a court bid to have his prosecution on fraud and corruption charges declared invalid.
"We always knew that we would win. They should have accepted our letter," said his lawyer, Kemp J Kemp, shortly after Judge Chris Nicholson ruled in their favour in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
In October 2007, Zuma's legal team wrote a letter to the National Directorate of Public Prosecutions requesting that Zuma be granted representation.
This was rejected by its acting head Mokotedi Mpshe.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Tlali Tlali said: "We accept the ruling of the court and we will study the decision. It is proper that we have a look at what the judgment contains."
