CT gets new city manager

Cape Town - Cape Town mayor Helen Zille has announced that Achmat Ebrahim, 50, will take up the position as acting city manager after Wallace Mgoqi was axed.
Mgoqi learnt on Monday that his services were no longer required.
A specially-convened full council meeting revoked former mayor Nomaindia Mfeketo's decision to extend Mgoqi's contract for a year.
Zille said the city's multiparty government had agreed on Ebrahim, who had over 20 years experience in the city council.
Attempts to obtain comment from Mgoqi or his lawyers on Monday proved fruitless.
Mgoqi on Friday abandoned a Cape Town High Court application seeking to prevent the meeting, but has not ruled out further litigation contesting his axing.
