Cope leaders 'an angry mob'

Cape Town - Former ANC Western Cape spokesperson Lionel Adendorf on Tuesday quashed rumours that he had resigned from the ruling party to join the Congress of the People (Cope).
"I'm a committed member of the ANC and will never leave the party for any other organisation," he said.
Rumours that Adendorf might be heading for Cope started circulating following his resignation as ANC provincial spokesperson a week ago.
Dismissing the rumours as "mischievous" Adendorf said that while it was true he had quit his job, he still remained a loyal member of the ANC.
Adendorf, who described Cope leadership as an "angry mob" mainly motivated by their hatred for ANC president Jacob Zuma, said he completely disagreed with what Cope stood for.
"I do not want to associate myself with angry and jealous people. I can not be a member of an organisation that uses the very same tactics employed by the apartheid regime to destabilise the ANC," he said. While he was no longer a ruling party employee, he remained chairperson of the ANC branch in Bonnyvale outside Cape Town.
The only reason he was resigning as an employee of the ANC was because he wanted to spend more time with his family, Adendorf said.
