Land Restitution Bill passed

Johannesburg - The National Assembly has passed the Restitution of Land Rights Amendment Bill, the SABC reported on Thursday.
The Bill is aimed at empowering the Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs to acquire land for restitution purposes for communities who had been dispossessed of their property rights in the past.
The Bill was passed despite objections by the Democratic Alliance, the Federal Alliance, the Freedom Front, National Action and the Independent Africa Movement.
The DA's Andries Botha said his party would not support the bill as it diminished the human rights of communal land owners, SABC reported.
