Johannesburg - ANC president Jacob Zuma is expected to lead a delegation to the US to strengthen relations and explore further co-operation on priority policy areas, the party said on Thursday.
On his visit scheduled for October 20 to 25 Zuma will be accompanied among others by ANC treasurer general, Mathews Phosa and National Executive Committee member Zweli Mkhize.
The visit would focus on education, the fight against crime, health (particularly HIV/Aids) and economic growth - areas the ANC would prioritise over the next five years, spokesperson Steyn Speed said.
The party resolved at its Polokwane conference that education and health must be prioritised as the core elements of social transformation, he said.
Steyn said the delegation is scheduled to meet with key figures in the US administration including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Jendayi Fraser.
