Aucamp remains AEB leader

Pretoria - A final Pretoria High Court order on Tuesday allowed Cassie Aucamp to retain leadership of the Afrikaner Eenheidsbeweging (AEB) as well as his parliamentary seat - which he intends taking with him to a new party.
Aucamp, also the co-leader of the newly formed National Action (NA), was suspended from the AEB at a chief council meeting last month, along with other members who also hold NA membership.
However, he contended the meeting was illegitimate and its decisions null and void.
The meeting elected Piet Retief farmer Werner Weber as the AUM's new leader and the party's new representative in Parliament. Pretoria surgeon Dr Willie Snyman was elected his deputy.
Weber, Snyman and AEB executive member Hannes Scholtz called the February 8 meeting.
The high court granted an interim order last month nullifying the meeting and its decisions. Tuesday was the return date for Weber, Snyman, Scholtz and the AUM to show why the order should not be made final.
They did not make any submissions.
After the court's order was made final, Aucamp said he would take his parliamentary seat with him to the National Action as soon as floor-crossing legislation was final.
Weber, Snyman and Scholtz were ordered to pay the costs of the application.
