DA wants JSC to probe Erasmus

Cape Town - The Democratic Alliance wants the Judicial Service Commission to look into whether Cape High Court Judge Nathan Erasmus is guilty of misconduct, party leader Helen Zille said on Wednesday.
She was speaking in the wake of this week's high court ruling that found that the Erasmus Commission, headed by the judge, was set up by former Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool solely to embarrass the DA.
A full bench of judges found that Erasmus should never have accepted the appointment.
Zille told a media briefing that she had asked the DA representative on the JSC, Sheila Camerer, to "approach that body with a view to investigating whether Judge Nathan Erasmus is guilty of misconduct".
"I want her to get the JSC to look at this issue," Zille said.
