Johannesburg - President Thabo Mbeki will visit Harare on Thursday to meet members of Zanu-PF and the MDC, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.
Mbeki would visit Zimbabwe within the context of a mandate bestowed upon him by the SADC in March 2007 to assist the government and people of Zimbabwe find a political solution to their political challenges.
Mbeki was expected to return to South Africa on Thursday.
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Aziz Pahad said on Wednesday that there seemed to be "real movement" to solve Zimbabwe's political woes.
Referring to several public statements on the political talks between the ruling Zanu-PF party and factions of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change, Pahad said he had "general confidence" that a solution could be found.
