Tallmansville - Twelve of the 13 coal miners who were trapped inside a mine in West Virginia have been found alive, CNN reported quoting family members.
Bells at a church near the mine where relatives of the trapped miners had gathered began ringing shortly before midnight on Tuesday, as CNN said that 12 men who had been trapped since Monday had been found alive in the Sago coal mine.
The surprising news came three hours after the body of one of the 13 miners who were trapped 80m below ground since early on Monday had been recovered by a rescue crew.
There were no reports on the condition of the miners who survived more than 40 hours inside one of the tunnels of the mine that was struck by an explosion when workers resumed normal operations at the mine after the Christmas holiday.
