Baghdad - Iraqi police found the body of a headless woman in Baghdad on Sunday, with a note attached denouncing her as a spy, security sources said.
"A police patrol found a headless woman with a note attached, denouncing her a spy," said Walid Khaled.
The body was discovered in the western al-Adl district on the road leading out from the capital to the former rebel stronghold of Fallujah.
"A piece of paper, with the word spy written on it, was found near the body of the woman dressed in a black robe," he said.
Insurgents regularly kill Iraqis suspected of working with the government and US forces.
Rebels often resort to fear tactics like drive-by shootings and the mutilation of bodies as they seek to control areas around the country.
