Iraqi general kidnapped

Baghdad - The Iraqi general in charge of the interior ministry's 1 600 strong armoured brigade was kidnapped on Tuesday in Baghdad, one of the highest-ranking security figures to be abducted by insurgents.
Brigadier General Jalal Mohamed Salah and his bodyguards were seized in the upmarket western Mansour district, an interior ministry official said.
Insurgents frequently target Iraq's security forces with deadly bombings, shootings and kidnappings.
Salah's brigade is a force that uses armoured vehicles in major operations against criminals and insurgents.
