Baghdad - Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi on Tuesday promised to do everything he could to help secure the release of English hostage Kenneth Bigley following a meeting in Baghdad with British Foreign Minister Jack Straw.
We "discussed the sad story of the British hostage and we are trying our best to do whatever possible to help his release," Allawi told reporters outside his office.
"I can't really talk about details, we are trying our best," he added, after his meeting with Straw, who was on a surprise visit to Iraq.
Sixty-two-year-old engineer Kenneth Bigley was kidnapped from his Baghdad home on September 16 along with two US colleagues, who have already been beheaded by their captors from suspected Al-Qaeda operative Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi's Unity and Holy War group.
