Baghdad - A seven-year-old Lebanese boy taken hostage last week on his way to school in Iraq and held for a $150 000 ransom was released on Friday in exchange for a lesser sum, his father told AFP.
"He was set free at about midday. I negotiated with the kidnappers who finally accepted to lower the ransom to three million dinars (about $2 000)," said Abdel Ghani Hamad.
Mohammad Abdel Ghani Hamad, whose parents have lived in Iraq for 30 years, was seized on October 22 in the eastern province of Diyala.
