11 found 'executed' in Iraq

Baghdad - The bodies of 11 people who had been shot dead were found near the city of al-Qaim, bringing to 17 the number of grisly finds in this Sunni region close to the Syrian border, said sources on Friday.
One of the sources said :"The people were executed."
A defence ministry source had said on Thursday that six bodies were discovered near al-Qaim, 450km, west of Baghdad.
The town is in al-Anbar province, which extended from near the Iraqi capital to the borders with Jordan and Syria, and where many kidnappings and executions had occurred.
In May, United States forces launched a vast operation against infiltrations across the Syrian border there, saying they had killed more than 100 rebels linked to the al-Qaeda terror network.
