Basra - Two British soldiers were killed on Monday in a roadside bombing in southern Iraq, said the British military.
According to a military statement, the two soldiers, whose identity was not immediately released, "died from injuries caused by a roadside bomb about 11:30 in Basra province."
Local sources said the men were killed near al-Zubair, 20km south of Basra, when one of two military vehicles hit a bomb.
In mid-July, a roadside bomb in the al-Amarah area of southeastern Iraq killed three British soldiers.
The overall number of British personnel in Iraq who have died as a result of combat, accident or natural causes stands at 94.
In late July, two British security contractors were also killed when a roadside bomb on the outskirts of Basra exploded, hitting a consular convoy.
