Israel drops supplies by air

Jerusalem - The Israeli air force has had to parachute supplies to its elite units operating deep in southern Lebanon to avoid road ambushes by Hezbollah, military sources say.
"The air force has recently carried out air drops to deliver supplies to its troops in operation," a military source said.
Israeli military officials have expressed surprise at the level of equipment used by Hezbollah since the massive land, air and sea assault was launched on July 12.
The Israeli army has suffered some of its worst losses in years at the hands of the Shi'ite militia, which has controlled southern Lebanon since Israel's 2000 pull-out.
Sixty-three Israeli soldiers have died since the start of the Lebanon offensive.
